Postgraduate Industry Experience Expo of 2024 is scheduled on Tuesday 21st May 2024!

Program Details

Each semester, students from diverse IT backgrounds working in multicultural teams, are immersed in a unique industry experience. With an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, teams analyse data to develop IT solutions (apps and websites) to real-life problems and/or identified opportunities presented by the analysis. Students are pushed beyond the comfort of their discipline boundaries and current knowledge, as they not only practise their craft in an industry setting, but also develop a sense of service.

Throughout this process the teams are mentored by expert, enthusiastic industry mentors, who play a key role coaching, questioning and providing feedback. They advise on product and process, share their industry experience and help their teams avoid pitfalls.

The program’s success is evident from the students’ palpable pride in their achievement, which comes from being challenged to surpass self-imposed limits. This pride is shared by industry who are excited to be guiding the next generation of IT professionals, and collaborating in a program committed to community service.

“The EXPO was characterised by excellent and pragmatically-oriented initiatives/products, palpable enthusiasm and pride in their teamwork – I found it to be a most enjoyable visit and educational experience. I will certainly let Alan (Alan Finkel Chief Scientist) know about what FIT is doing in relation to this and other initiatives.”
